The Rostock University is housed in an extensively restored monastery and therefore provides excellent practise facilities in a creative atmosphere. All master classes are open to the public and give interested guests the possibility to see behind the curtain of the daily musical work.

The Summer Campus took place for the first time in 1995 – one year after the foundation of Rostock University of Music and Theatre. The involvement of the Association of Baltic Academies of Music (ABAM) has since been a major concern of the master classes. Since 2005, the Summer Campus has been organized in co-operation with the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Special support to the Summer Campus is given by the Norddeutsche Rundfunk, the association “Friends and Supporters of the University of Music and Theatre e.V.” and the ART MENTOR FOUNDATION LUCERNE.
