Become a member of the association

The association “Friends and Supporters of the University of Music and Theatre e.V.” – informally Rostock University of Music and Theatre supporters’ association – has in the meantime become a traditional institution in the cultural life of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and in particular in the Hanseatic City of Rostock. It was formed in 1993, initially to support the foundation of the Rostock University of Music and Theatre. The University, which is closely associated with its wonderfully restored and modernized building, the former St Katharine’s Monastery, was indeed founded - more than ten years ago - and is now a close partner of the supporters’ association. The range of the associations’ activities is very wide; its main task is that of promoting outstanding students, but it also supports certain important thematic strands in the artistic activities and events of the University. Equally, the association opens up lines of communication to outstanding figures in the field of politics, business and culture. In close coordination with the University, the supporters’ association thus promotes the University’s national and international profile in the artistic field.
A special concern of the association is the promotion of excellence and highly gifted students. The University’s policy in this respect has achieved notable success in recent years but still greater progress can be achieved by more comprehensive support.
In recent years the University has had a positive influence well beyond the region on.

Most of the programmes and courses of study at the University are now synonymous with excellence in education.
We are constantly on the lookout for active and committed friends and supporters to further intensify the fruitful cooperation between the association and the University. So how about joining yourself? Support the association and the Rostock University of Music and Theatre and use their prestige to highlight your own activities and events.
The membership fee for individual members is less than the cost of an evening meal, and high quality musical performances and a visit to the University’s beautiful buildings offer more than culinary delights for this fee.
