Masterclass Bassoon Prof. Frank Morelli & David Petersen | 23 - 30 August 2019

Frank Morelli studied at the Manhattan and Juilliard Schools of Music and has made nine appearances as bassoon soloist in New York’s Carnegie Hall. He was solo bassoon of the NYC Opera for 27 years and is Co-Solo Bassoon of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. Morelli is also a lecturer in several different schools such as The Juilliard School and the Yale School of Music. He was the first bassoonist awarded with a doctorate by the Juilliard School.

David Petersen has been first principal bassoon at the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig since 1992 and a member of Bayreuth’s Festival Orchestra since summer 2009. As a sought-after chamber musician and soloist, he plays at festivals in Europe, Japan, Taiwan and the USA with various partners and orchestras. Petersen also holds a bassoon class at the Rostock University of Music and Drama and teaches bassoon at the Musikgymnasium ‘Latina’ in Halle an der Saale. He regularly holds masterclasses in Germany, Japan, Taiwan, the USA and Finland..
