Jörg Uwe Andrees

After studying Classical Accompaniment at the University of Music Franz Liszt in Weimar from 1980 to 1984, Jörg Uwe Andrees worked as a big band musician for one year and then as a freelance musician in Berlin for eleven years. During this time, he was studio keyboarder for the Horst Krüger Studioband and featured in various film, radio and television productions.

Apart from his work as a live musician, including with the rock-jazz band “Bajazzo” and as a composer/arranger for the “Theater des Westens”, the Maxim Gorki Theatre and the carrousel Theater an der Parkaue, Jörg Uwe Andrees taught at the music schools in Kreuzberg/Weißensee/Neukölln, and at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin.

Since 1996 he has been a teacher and since 1997 Head of the Jazz/Rock/Pop Department at the Schwerin Conservatory.

He is a guest musician at the Mecklenburg State Theatre Schwerin.

Andrees led rehearsals for Mecklenburg-Vorpommern’s State Youth Jazz Orchestra for several years.

He has been a lecturer at hmt Rostock since 2006, where he teaches piano and accompaniment classes for the degree course Pop and World Music, as well as piano playing at schools for students training to become music teachers.
