Bertold Stecher

Bertold Stecher studied under Prof. Lothar Hilbrand in Feldkirch (Austria), as well as under Prof. Hans Gansch in Salzburg and completed his bachelor’s and master’s studies in the teaching of instruments and voice with a distinction.

His enthusiasm for playing in an orchestra was further strengthened by concert tours with the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO), the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra (GMJO) and the Schleswig-Holstein Youth Orchestra and soon led the musician to his first positions in professional orchestras.

From 2012 - 2017 Bertold Stecher held the position of principal trumpet in the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento. This was followed by the position of trumpet soloist at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the position with the Berlin Philharmonic since August 2022.

He is a popular guest, performing with orchestras such as: the Berlin Philharmonic, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, the WDR Symphony Orchestra, the MDR Symphony Orchestra, the World Orchestra for Peace, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia Rome, the Teatro alla Scala Milano, and the Teatro la Fenice di Venezia.

Bertold Stecher is also a committed chamber music and ensemble musician, and has been a member of the brass ensemble PROBrass since 2011. Furthermore, Bertold Stecher has been lecturer for the major in trumpet at hmt Rostock since April 2022.
