Olaf Haye

Olaf Haye was born in Kiel and completed his studies of singing at the University of Music and Theatre Hamburg with Naan Pöld from 1985 to 1991. He passed his Diplom examination with distinction.

He won the VdMK Competition Berlin, the Richard Strauss Competition Munich and received a scholarship from the German Music Council. Haye also took part in the “Festival Lyrico Internationale” in Barga/Italy, the German Rossini Festivals “Rossini in Wildbad” and “Rossini auf Rügen”, and in the 43rd Handel Festival in Halle.

Olaf Haye was also a member of the ensemble at Theater Kiel from 1990 to 1992 and at Theater Dortmund from 1992 to 1995.

He worked as a freelancer from 1995 to 2005, in productions e.g. with the Volksoper Wien, at the Théatre de la Monnaie Brussels, at the Komische Oper Berlin, Oper Frankfurt, the Opéra National de Lorraine Nancy, Oper Leipzig, the Staatsoperette Dresden, and the Cologne Opera.

Olaf Haye was a member of the ensemble at the Wuppertaler Bühnen for the seasons 2005/06, 2009/10 to 2014/15.

He has also held further contracts as a guest musician at the following opera houses:

Theater Bremen, Staatstheater Braunschweig, Theater Lübeck, Theater Wuppertal, Theater Giessen, Theater Gummersbuch, Theater Bielefeld, Staatstheater Saarbrücken, Oldenburgisches Staatstheater, Staatstheater Kassel, Theater Bonn, Luzerner Theater, Theater Koblenz, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Hessian State Theatre of Wiesbaden, Theater Hagen, Theater Krefeld/Mönchengladbach, Goethe Theater Bad Lauchstädt.

He has performed in many different roles, including: Papageno/”The Magic Flute", Malatesta/"Don Pasquale", Fritz/"Die Tote Stadt", Don Giovanni/"Don Giovanni", Almaviva and Figaro/"Le Nozze di Figaro", Danilo/”The Merry Widow", Schaunard/"La Bohème", Figaro/"Il Barbiere di Siviglia", Dr. Falke and Frank/"Die Fledermaus", Petrucchio/"Kiss me Kate", Perón/"Evita".

Radio and television recordings of his performances were made by ZDF, NDR, MDR and Radio Bremen.
