Lilit Grigoryan appointed piano professor
Armenian-born pianist Lilit Grigoryan was appointed Professor of Piano at hmt Rostock on 18 December 2025 and will succeed Professor Bernd Zack on 1 January 2026. She has been associated with the university for many years. She completed a large part of her studies here and graduated with a diploma in piano and piano chamber music as well as the concert exam. She has worked at the hmt Rostock as an artistic assistant since 2022.
As an artist and teacher, Lilit Grigoryan has an impressive career path. She performs as a soloist with renowned orchestras and makes guest appearances at festivals internationally. She is also passionate about chamber music. Here she has performed with renowned artists such as Maria João Pires, Viviane Hagner, Valeriy Sokolov, Sarah Christian, Hiyoli Togawa and Andrei Ioniţă.
In 2012, she released her debut CD with works by Scarlatti, Schumann, Bartók and Khachaturian. A recording of the cycle "Música callada" by Frederic Mompou was chosen as one of the best recordings of 2021 by Apple Music.
In 2008, Lilit Grigoryan received the Armenian President's Culture Prize. She has also received honours from the State Duma of the Russian Federation and the Mayor of the city of Yerevan.
