Dongdong Liu was born in 1983 in Liaoning, China. After her bachelor’s degree in composition and music theory in Beijing, she studied composition with Prof. Peter Manfred Wolf at the Rostock University of Music and Drama.

In 2012, she completed her major composition exam with distinction. During this period she received many composition commissions and between 2012-2014 she received the Caspar-David Friedrich grant from the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Since 2013 she has been teaching composition, the history of new music and musical analysis at the hmt Rostock and music theory at Young Academy Rostock (YARO).
