Sabine Franz

Sabine Franz, born in Rostock in 1967, initially completed her musical education at the Konservatorium in Rostock. As a pupil, she won several medals at the national competition "Festival of Young Talents" in the GDR. 

In 1986 she began her studies at the Academy of Music "Hanns Eisler" Berlin in the main subjects Flute and Recorder as well as in Instrumental Pedagogy. She graduated in 1990 with diplomas in the main subjects Flute and Recorder and in 1992 with the concert examination in the main subject Flute.

During her studies, she was a substitute in the Großes Rundfunkorchester Berlin. She has performed several times as a soloist with the Großes Rundfunkorchester Berlin at the Konzerthaus Berlin.

Since 1990, she has taught full-time at the Konservatorium, Music School of the Hanseatic and University City Rostock, and has also held teaching posts at the Academy of Music "Hanns Eisler" in Berlin, at the "Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach“ High School of Music in Berlin, and at the Institute for Music and Theatre Rostock, which later became the Academy of Music und Theater in Rostock, in the main subjects of Flute and Recorder. She has been teaching Flute here for many years in the subjects of subject didactics and teaching practice.

One of her special concerns is the education of young musicians and the promotion of excellence. She has successfully prepared numerous students for entrance examinations at German Music Academies as part of the Preparatory Training at the Konservatorium in Rostock and, since 2016, as a teacher for Flute at the young academy rostock.

Her students are successful prize winners in the "Jugend musiziert" competitions and the International Online Competition of the German Society for the Flute.
