Prof. Sylvio Krause

Prof. Sylvio Krause is Principal Concertmaster of the Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock and teaches a major violin class as well as orchestra and concertmaster studies in his capacity as honorary professor at hmt Rostock. Many of his students are successful on the international stage. They have won prizes at competitions and gained positions in outstanding orchestras.

Sylvio Krause studied at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin in Prof. Werner Scholz’s masterclass. He received further musical inspiration from joint work with Leonard Bernstein, Gerhart Hetzel, Michail Jurowski, Marek Pijarowski, and Emin Khachaturian.

As a soloist and chamber musician, concert tours have taken him to almost every country in Europe.

Sylvio Krause is Artistic Director of the International Queen Sophie Charlotte Competition for Violin and the International Festival of Arts Residenzschloss Mirow.

His publications include “Orchestral Auditions - Violin”, published by Friedrich Hofmeister Musikverlag, which has become standard music literature all over the globe.
