Double Bass Prof. Andreas Ehelebe

Andreas Ehelebe was born in Wernigerode in 1994. He received his first double bass tuition at the age of eleven and was trained to start by Andreas Nettels and Prof. Frithjof-Martin Grabner, later on by Prof. Dorin Marc in Nuremberg. He also received important impulses as a member of the Berlin Philharmonic’s Karajan Academy, where his mentor was Janne Saksala. Andreas has won several first prizes at international competitions (Markneukirchen, Johann Matthias Sperger) and is a sought-after guest for numerous leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the symphony orchestras of BR, SWR, NDR, and MDR, the Bamberg Symphony and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin. He has been principal double bassist at the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden since 2020, where he also teaches at the Giuseppe Sinopoli Academy. He has also lectureds at the University of Music and Theatre “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” in Leipzig since 2022. Andreas Ehelebe was appointed professor at the Rostock University of Music and Drama and started teaching in October 2023.
